REDDING, Calif. –  The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) today announced a proposal to provide improvements and new developments at recreation facility sites along the Trinity River in Trinity County. Public comments on the plan are encouraged and should be submitted to the BLM by Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023.

Proposals include expanding, improving, and renaming the Steiner Flat campground near Douglas City. Also included are proposals for trail developments and improvements, swimming hole improvements, designation of new day-use areas and increased parking. A new vault toilet is proposed for the Junction City campground.

“We are proposing these improvements to meet increasing demand for recreation along the Trinity River,” said Redding Field Manager Jennifer Mata. “The projects would improve sustainability by managing recreation use such as camping, hiking and river access in areas specifically designed for those uses.”
