BLM to Offer 84 Parcels in the High Plains District Third Quarter 2018 Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale

CASPER, Wyo. - In its ongoing effort to provide opportunities for responsible energy development, support the creation of jobs and facilitate positive economic impacts to local communities, the Bureau of Land Management released its initial environmental analysis for the High Plains District Third Quarter 2018 Competitive Oil and Gas Lease Sale. The document is available for a 30-day public comment period.
The lease sale includes 84 parcels and approximately 50,524 acres of Federal mineral estate within the High Plains District, which is comprised of the Buffalo, Casper and Newcastle field offices. The draft environmental assessment (EA) studies the potential offering of 28 parcels totaling 14,715 acres in the Buffalo Field Office; 37 parcels totaling 23,029 acres in the Casper Field Office; and 19 parcels totaling 12,780 acres in the Newcastle Field Office. The BLM will hold the lease sale online via www.energynet.com.
Public comments on the draft EA will be accepted through Feb. 21, 2018. Email comments to Casper_WYMail@blm.gov with “Third Quarter 2018 Lease Parcels” in the subject line. The public comments and information submitted regarding this project including names, email addresses and street addresses of the respondents will be available for public review and disclosure at the district office during regular business hours (7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) weekdays, except holidays.
