SANTA FE, N.M. — In keeping with the Administration’s goal of strengthening America’s energy independence, the Bureau of Land Management will offer 62 parcels, totaling 15,491.91 acres in the Pecos District at its Sept. 7 quarterly oil and gas lease sale. The BLM will hold the lease sale online via www.energynet.com.

Bidding will begin at 8 a.m. MST.  The BLM will offer 15 parcels in Chavez County, one parcel in Curry County, 16 parcels in Eddy County, 26 parcels in Lea County, one parcel in Quay County, and three parcels in Roosevelt County.

The lease sale’s environmental assessments, lists and maps of the parcels, and the attached stipulations, are online at https://www.blm.gov/programs/energy-and-minerals/oil-and-gas/leasing/regional-lease-sales/new-mexico.

The state of New Mexico receives 48 percent of the proceeds of each lease sale.  In Fiscal Year 2016, New Mexico received approximately $684,665,096 from royalties, rentals and bonus bid payments for federal oil and gas.

Online oil and gas lease sales streamline the bidding process and allow the BLM to serve the public better and faster. These lease sales strengthen domestic energy production and contribute to the country’s energy independence.
