BLM Nevada Opens Photo Contest Voting on Facebook Page

Starting today, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Nevada state office will be posting entries in the 2014 photo contest to www.facebook.com/BLMNevada. Over two hundred photos were submitted between June 1 and August 31 for the BLM's third annual photo contest, which celebrates 150 years of Nevada's statehood."This is a great way for people to share the experience of our public lands and celebrate Nevada's sesquicentennial," said BLM Nevada State Director Amy Lueders.The photos will be posted into photo albums representing the categories of the contest:* Adventure and outdoor recreation* Historical and cultural* Scenic, Seasons and Landscapes * Wildlife* Night Skies* EmployeeThe photos with the most “likes" will be considered for use in the 2015 BLM Nevada planner, a calendar publication. Voting will close at 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 30, and the winners will be announced on the Facebook page.


The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
