BLM land sale raises $38,700

ELY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management Ely District, Caliente Field Office on Tuesday, Oct. 23, sold at public auction three parcels of BLM-administered land totaling 86.9 acres for $38,700.
The field office sold through a competitive sale a 38.77-acre parcel just north of Alamo, Nev., and a 40-acre parcel adjacent to Caliente, Nev., at the appraised fair market values of $19,000 and $8,000, respectively. The field office sold a 7.32-acre parcel adjacent to Pioche, Nev., for $11,700 or $700 above appraised fair market value.
Six parcels offered at auction were unsold and may be available later.
The BLM conducted the sale in accordance with the Lincoln County Conservation, Recreation, and Development Act of 2004. The sale complied with the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 and was in conformance with the 2008 Ely Resource Management Plan. Five percent of the proceeds will go to the Nevada State General Education Fund, ten percent to Lincoln County, and the remaining 85% deposited into a special account to be used to protect archaeological and natural resources, recreation and wilderness planning, and other opportunities in Lincoln County.
