SOCORRO, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management is advising travelers that recent heavy rains have damaged the Quebradas Backcountry Byway. The road is open and passable only in a high clearance vehicle. Drivers are urged to observe the 20 mph speed limit to ensure they safely enjoy their time on the road. Please use caution near low water (arroyo) crossings and culverts that may have been over-topped with rain.
Repair and maintenance efforts will occur in the coming weeks. For more information, please contact the BLM Socorro Field Office at 575-835-0412.
