“National Public Lands Day helps individuals rediscover their rights and responsibilities to a shared resource, gaining new appreciation for the multiple uses of BLM managed lands by helping to improve and restore our public lands through myriad of projects and efforts,” said BLM Carlsbad Field Office Outdoor Recreation Planner Eamon Brennan.
“These events will bring volunteers of all ages together to work toward a common goal of improving public lands for the benefit of everyone,” said BLM Carlsbad Deputy Field Manager Tye Bryson. “It is a great opportunity to work side-by-side with neighbors in the community while also spending time outdoors.”
National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest, single-day, volunteer event for public lands. Established in 1994 and held annually on the fourth Saturday in September, the event brings thousands of volunteers to help restore and improve public lands around the country. In the Carlsbad, area; however, “the day” has evolved to “several,” and other events will take place at BLM recreation sites after Sept. 9.
