CAÑON CITY, Colo. – The Bureau of Land Management Royal Gorge Field Office will host a public clean-up event at Dinosaur Flats, north of Cañon City, on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 8 a.m. until noon.

“Dinosaur Flats is a popular recreation site and the clean-up is a great opportunity for those who use the area to work with us to improve the recreation experience there,” said BLM Outdoor Recreation Planner Linda Skinner. “Public safety is paramount, and we ask that target shooters refrain from shooting in the area during the clean-up.”

Volunteers will meet BLM staff at Dinosaur Flats and should wear boots and leather gloves to perform work. The BLM does not recommend bringing children or pets to this event. Refreshments will be provided.

Dinosaur Flats is located on County Road 9 north of Highway 50 in Cañon City. For further information, contact BLM Recreation Technician Mercedes Siegle-Gaither at 719-269-8500 or msieglegaither@blm.gov.
