CAÑON CITY, Colo. –The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Royal Gorge Field Office announced today a 15-day public scoping period on a proposed transmission line project north of Cañon City.

Black Hills Energy is proposing to construct the Cañon West Reliability Project, a 39-mile, 115-kV single circuit transmission line to improve electric power distribution and accommodate future growth in Pueblo West, Penrose, Florence, and Cañon City. Less than a mile of the transmission line would be on BLM-managed lands, with the rest on county, state, and private lands.

“Energy infrastructure projects like this proposed transmission line are important for the local communities we serve,” said Keith Berger, Royal Gorge Field Office Manager. “We look forward to hearing from the public so that we can make an informed decision.”
