BLM establishes new Pilot Valley Community Sand and Gravel Pit

ELKO, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management Elko District Office announces the establishment of the new Pilot Valley Community Sand and Gravel Pit. The pit is in an existing sand and gravel pit disturbance just off the Pilot Road approximately 7 miles east from State Route 233. The material is mostly made up of sand-sized grains and could be used for landscaping or road maintenance. Permits for this new community pit will be available beginning January 13.
“This site provides a close location for residents of Pilot Valley to obtain permits for sand and gravel from the BLM Elko Office,” said Gerald Dixon, Wells Field Office Manager. “This location joins a list of 16 other community pits across the BLM Elko District that include different types of commodities such as sand, gravel, and decorative stone.”
Removals should be kept within the defined boundaries of the community pits and users should remove all trash during and after the use of any BLM community pit. Site-specific stipulations will be provided when a permit is purchased.
