The BLM to celebrate National Bat Week in the Coachella Valley

MORENO VALLEY, Calif. - The Bureau of Land Management, Palm Springs-South Coast Field Office, invites the public to celebrate National Bat Week, Oct. 25-31.
Bat Week in the Coachella Valley is an annual celebration of bats, and this year marks the fifth year of this bat-tastic educational outreach program with fun activities scheduled throughout the valley.
Activities will include Movie Night with the Bats, Super Hero Bat Walk, Bat Lecture and Documentary, a Live Online Bat Question and Answers session, as well as other events.
In addition, “Bats; Nature's Bug Zappers,” an educational display, will be presented at the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center located at 51-500 Highway 74, Palm Desert. Visitor Center hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., closed noon to 12:30 p.m., Thursday through Monday, and closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Partnering along with the BLM are the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Friends of the Desert Mountains, The Wildlands Conservancy, Center for Natural Lands Management, the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens, Desert Horticultural Society, Greater Palm Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau, and UCR-Palm Desert.
