The Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Arizona Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet in Phoenix on January 29-30, 2014. Established in 1995, the statewide citizen-based council provides advice to the BLM on land management programs and issues affecting public lands in Arizona. In addition, the RAC has been authorized to review and provide advice on all recreation fee proposals for the BLM and the U.S. Forest Service (FS) recreation sites in Arizona, as required by the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act of 2004. The Recreation RAC Working Group will review and make recommendations on U.S. Forest Service recreation fee proposals at this meeting. Members of the public are welcome to attend the RAC Working Group meetings on January 29, and the Business meeting on January 30. The meetings will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., respectively at the BLM National Training Center located at 9828 North 31st Avenue in Phoenix. A half-hour public comment period is scheduled on the day of the Business meeting from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. during the RRAC Session for any interested members of the public who wish to address the Council on BLM or Forest Service recreation fee programs, and again from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. for any interested members of the public who wish to address the Council on BLM programs and business in general. Depending on the number of persons wishing to speak and time available, the time for individual comments may be limited. Written comments may be sent to the Bureau of Land Management at One N. Central Ave., Suite 800, Phoenix, AZ 85004, attention Arizona RAC Coordinator. Planned agenda items include: a welcome and introduction of Council members; BLM State Director's update on BLM programs and issues; updates on the RAC Colorado River District Grazing Subcommittee; Section 106 Consultation Process; Department of the Interior Themes and Landscape Level Opportunities for BLM; Sonoran Landscape Pilot;U.S. Forest Service Recreation Fee Program Proposals; reports by the RAC Working Groups; RAC questions on BLM District Manager Reports; and other items of interest to the RAC.
