The Bureau of Land Management's (BLM) Arizona Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet in Phoenix on April 28, 2016. Established in 1995, the statewide citizen-based council provides advice to the BLM on land management programs and issues affecting public lands in Arizona. In addition, the RAC has been authorized to review and provide advice on all recreation fee proposals for the BLM and the U.S. Forest Service (FS) recreation sites in Arizona, as required by the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act of 2004. At the meeting, the Recreation RAC will review and make recommendations to the BLM State Director on the Paria Canyon-Coyote Buttes Special Management Area Proposed Business Plan.
The business meeting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the BLM Arizona State Office located at One North Central Avenue, Suite 800 in downtown Phoenix. The public is invited to attend and provide comments to the during the RAC meeting on BLM programs from 1:45 to 2:15 p.m. and during the Recreation RAC session on the Proposed Business Plan at 2:30 p.m. Depending on the number of persons wishing to speak and time available, the time for individual comments may be limited. Comments may also be sent to the Bureau of Land Management at One N. Central Ave., Suite 800, Phoenix, AZ 85004, attention Arizona RAC Coordinator.
Planned agenda items include: Welcome and Introduction of Council members; BLM State Director's update on BLM Programs and Issues; Threatened and Endangered Species Program Overview; Northstar 2025 Project Overview; Recreation RAC Session; RAC Committee Reports; RAC questions and comments on BLM District Manager Reports; and other items of interest to the RAC.
