PHOENIX – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Arizona Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet to discuss public land management topics at a meeting planned for December 11-12 in Phoenix.

Planned agenda items at the meeting include a BLM overview and member orientation, overview of Department of the Interior priorities and Secretary’s Orders, and Division and District updates.  The Recreation RAC subcommittee will also convene to vote on recommendations related to three U.S. Forest Service fee proposals--Sollers Cabin rental fees and the Forest Fee Program for the Coronado National Forest, and Spring Valley cabin rental fees for the Kaibab National Forest.

The RAC will meet in the 8th floor conference room at the BLM Arizona State Office located at One North Central Avenue, Phoenix, 85004.  The two-day meeting, which is open to the public, will include an informational, working group day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on December 11, and an official business day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on December 12.  A complete agenda is available on the BLM Arizona Resource Advisory Council website.

“The Arizona RAC provides critical advice to the BLM as we work to be good neighbors in the communities we serve,” said BLM Arizona State Director Raymond Suazo, who also serves as the Arizona RAC’s Designated Federal Official.  “RAC members’ input enhances the BLM’s ability to manage these lands for current and future generations of Americans.”

The 15-member BLM Arizona RAC provides a forum that brings together stakeholders with diverse interests to provide advice and recommendations to the BLM on issues and challenges associated with the Bureau’s multiple use mission.  The Recreation RAC subcommittee also provides recommendations to the U.S. Forest Service on recreation fee proposals.

Two public comment periods are scheduled as part of the December meeting.  The public may provide comments related to the Forest Service fee proposals at 1:00 p.m. on December 12.  A second comment period for BLM-related topics is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on December 12.  Depending on the number of people wishing to comment and time available, the amount of time for individual oral comments may be limited.  Comments may also be submitted via email to dagarcia@blm.gov.
