BLM announces temporary closure and restrictions of public lands for the removal of the J.C. Boyle Dam and associated facilities

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.— The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Klamath Falls Field Office announces the temporary closure of public lands and roads including all public lands adjacent to the J.C. Boyle Dam, and associated infrastructure that is to be removed. Area closure measures are being conducted to ensure public safety.

The temporary closure begins at midnight on January 2, 2024, through the winter of 2025. This closure will impact public access of the Klamath River Canyon from Hwy 66 to the Spring Island Recreation Site. The closure includes the Topsy Campground and the J.C. Boyle Dam access road, from Topsy Road to the J.C. Boyle Powerhouse Road.
