Winnemucca, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Winnemucca District Office and the Humboldt Museum are hosting the 6th annual Native American Craft Fair on Saturday, November 19th from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at the Humboldt Museum in Winnemucca, Nevada.
The craft fair will feature the works of local Paiute and Shoshone artisans. “We're pleased to be working again with our partners at the Humboldt Museum to put on such a great event,” says Tanner Whetstone, Archeologist for the Humboldt River Field Office (HRFO). “We're looking forward to a great turnout from Native artists as well as the public and hope that anyone interested in vending or attending will come see us at the Humboldt Museum on November 19th.”
Last year’s event hosted seven vendors representing both Northern Paiute and Western Shoshone tribes. The variety of items available for sale included basketry, jewelry, leatherwork, paintings, homemade food, and more. "This annual event is held in recognition of Native American Heritage Month. Humboldt Museum is proud to provide a venue nurturing the preservation of our local native cultures,” says Dana Toth, Museum Curator for the Humboldt Museum.
This is a free, family-friendly event. For more information about the event, please contact Tanner Whetstone, Archeologist for the HRFO at (775) 623-1500 or email at twhetstone@blm.gov or Dana Toth, Museum Curator at the Humboldt Museum at 775-623-2912.
