IDAHO FALLS, Idaho – To better serve the public, the Bureau of Land Management’s Upper Snake Field Office and Caribou-Targhee National Forest will soon be transitioning from selling permits and maps at the Eastern Idaho Visitor Information Center to the Idaho Falls District Office and Caribou-Targhee Forest Headquarters Office, which are co-located at 1405 Hollipark Drive, Idaho Falls, Idaho 83401.  Once the physical move is complete, permit and map sales will continue as in the past at the Palisades Ranger District at 3659 E. Ririe Hwy.

“Every year we get scores of people who google our main office address on Hollipark and stop in to buy wood permits or USGS maps.  Since we haven’t had the right system to fulfill these requests, we’ve had to send them across town to purchase those products,” said Jeremy Casterson, BLM Upper Snake Field Manager. “By moving the permit and map sales operations to our main office, we are going to be able to provide a much better service to the public.”

The same maps, permits and gifts will be available at the new one-stop shopping location.  Offering this public service at the District Office will provide visitors who have detailed natural resource questions with greater access to specialists who can help them.

“The visitor information center was a valuable tool to provide information when we got it up and running in the early 1990s,” added Casterson.  “But as visions change, the BLM and Caribou-Targhee National Forest have determined that shifting map and permit sales to our Hollipark main office is the most viable option to serve the public.”

Office hours will be Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

For questions or concerns please contact the Idaho Falls District Office at 208-524-7500.
