WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – Beginning May 13, 2018, the Winnemucca District Bureau of Land Management, with assistance from the Vale District Bureau of Land Management, will be doing road maintenance in and around the Black Rock-High Rock National Conservation Area. Crews will initially be focusing on the Soldier Meadows Road and the High Rock Canyon Road.
Heavy equipment will be out on these roads, and travel delays may occur. "While there was some road damage caused by storms in early 2018, the primary culprit for the current back-log of necessary road work were the winter and spring storms of 2017. Our goal is to resolve most of this back-log over the next several weeks," said Mark Hall, the Black Rock Field Manager. All visitors are urged to plan ahead and use caution around heavy equipment.
