Black Rock Field Office invites public comment on Mountain View Exploration Project

WINNEMUCCA, Nev. — The Black Rock Field Office has initiated a 60-day pre-scoping period for public input on the Mountain View gold and silver exploration project proposed by Millennial Silver Nevada, Inc. Public input will be used in the development of an environmental analysis. Currently, agency staff and contractors are collecting baseline information.
The site is located approximately 17 miles northwest of Gerlach, Nevada, and the plan boundary covers 5,525 acres. Millennial Silver intends to start exploration on 400 acres with drill pads, roads, geotechnical and geochemical data collection, monitoring and production wells, and laydown yards. Exploration activities would be in operation approximately 10 years or less. If exploration is successful, Millennial Silver will develop a Plan of Operations that would be analyzed under the National Environmental Policy Act, including additional opportunities for public input.
"Pre-scoping is being done to ensure we start outreach to our diverse stakeholders who might have an interest in this project. This is one mechanism to comply with the administrations' focus on equity and environmental justice," said Black Rock Field Office Manager, Mark Hall.
