CHEYENNE, Wyo. - The Bureau of Land Management will sponsor a wild horse and burro adoption at Cheyenne Frontier Days, and will also provide public land information at the General Land Office in Old Frontier Town.

This year, the BLM will offer 20 halter- or saddle-started wild horses and burros for adoption. Approved bidders may participate in the adoption auction on Friday, July 28, at 5 p.m. All of the horses and burros were trained at the Mantle Family Ranch in Wheatland, Wyo.

There will be training demonstrations with the gentled wild horses and burros each day from July 21 – 27 at 10 a.m. – noon and 4 – 6 p.m. Some of these demonstrations will feature performances by Mustang Maddy and her liberty team of trained wild horses and zebras.

The BLM encourages visitors to stop by its General Land Office in Old Frontier Town. Visitors can and learn about the commercial, recreation and conservation opportunities on Wyoming public lands. Interpretive materials, including recreation maps, fire safety and eclipse information, will also be available.

Children are encouraged to pick up Smokey Bear coloring books and western bandanas. A Wyoming paleontology display with fossil replicas, as well as a selfie station celebrating pioneer history, will be available to all ages of the public.
