SALMON, Idaho — The first edition of the Upper Salmon River Boating Guide is now available.  This 50-page guide combines maps and text highlighting 150 miles of the Salmon River from Stanley to North Fork.  Information about rapids, safety, campsites, boat ramps and access, private and public land boundaries, wildlife and fisheries will aid boaters as they navigate this scenic stretch of the Salmon River past the towns of Stanley, Challis and Salmon.  The Boating Guide can be downloaded at no cost or purchased in a waterproof hardcopy for $5.00 at the Public Lands Center in Salmon and the BLM offices in Challis, Idaho Falls and Boise.

The Bureau of Land Management, the Forest Service, and the Idaho Fish and Game produced the guide to enrich the fishing and boating opportunities people enjoy in central Idaho.  Recreation and tourism are top contributors to Idaho’s economy with 41,600 jobs and 33 million visitor trips per year.  For many visitors, visiting public lands and waterways in central Idaho are at the top of their lists.

The atlas is available on our website at:
