Subject: Fire Water Sources Spatial Data Standard Version 2.0

This information bulletin announces the availability of and describes recent updates to the Fire Water Sources (FWTR_SRC) Spatial Data Standard.  Implementation of the updated standard in the GIS edit environment will be coordinated with updates to the S1 Mobile Application which supports field collection of this theme.  

The following changes were applied:

  • Added document revision tables to the header, as needed
  • Added an automatic linked table of contents
  • Updated the state data steward listing
  • Updated the GIS technical lead listing
  • Updated the state data administrator listing
  • Updated the state records administrator listing
  • Updated the records retention schedule sections to reflect that they are system centric themes that must be permanently retained
  • Updated the sponsor listing
  • Updated the BLM_ORG_CD domain (where present) to reflect the merger of Salem and Eugene Districts to form the new Northwest Oregon District
  • Updated the DIST_NAME domain (where present) to reflect the merger of Salem and Eugene Districts to form the new Northwest Oregon District
  • Incremented the version number and modified file name for consistency
  • Updated attribute definitions for many of the topic specific attributes for this theme

    • LONG_DMS split into two fields: LAT_DDM and LONG_DDM. Unit changed from DMS to DDM.
    • MAINT_NEEDS changed from a Y/N field to a domain that indicates the type of maintenance needed.
    • POC_RESTRICT field changed to RESTRICT_TYPE and a domain assigned that includes other types of restrictions.
    • PORTABLE – modified domain to use standard Y/N domain.
    • PUMP_DIST changed to PUMP_DIST_FT.
    • SURFACE_ELEV changed to SURFACE_ELEV_M.
    • SUSTAINABILITY – modified the domain.
    • T_R field split into two fields: TOWNSHIP, RANGE.
    • TENDER – modified domain to use standard Y/N domain.
    • VDATE changed to LASTVISIT_DT.
    • WATERSOURCE changed to WTR_SRC. Modified the domain.

Additional minor edits were made to enhance the overall clarity and consistency with Oregon data framework data management practices.  The revisions were made under the direction of the State Data Administrator.
