Subject: Wild and Scenic River Spatial Data Standard Revision

This information bulletin (IB) announces the availability of a newly revised Oregon/Washington (OR/WA) spatial data standard for Wild and Scenic Rivers (WSR). The data standard defines how this type of data is to be captured in a Geographic Information System (GIS) geodatabase, defines attributes used, and defines coding schemes (domains). This data standard is to be followed for all WSR geospatial data. To see the full WSR data standard, go to: blm.gov/or/datamanagement/files/WSR_Revised_Data_Standard.pdf

The significant change to the data standard with this revision is the addition of attributes CASEFILE, DSG_AC, DSG_MILES, GIS_ACRES, and GIS_MILES. In addition, this revision adds congressionally designated study rivers to the domain WSR_ASSESS which is used by attributes WSR_ELIG and WSR_SUIT.

This IB supersedes Instruction Memorandum IM-OR-2009-001. These changes were reviewed by the State Data Steward and by field GIS and Wild and Scenic River specialists. To see comments and responses, contact Stan Frazier, OR/WA State Data Administrator, at 503-654-7056, or sfrazier@blm.gov.

Any questions or comments about this standard can be directed to Chris Dent, State Data Steward for WSR, at 541-618-2447; Tamiko Stone, GIS Technical Support, at 503-808-6009; or Stan Frazier, OR/WA State Data Administrator, at 503-808-6009.

Districts with Unions are reminded to notify their unions of this information bulletin and satisfy any bargaining obligations before implementation. Your servicing Human Resources Office or Labor Relations Specialist can provide you with assistance in this matter.
