Information Bulletin:

The Visual Resource Management (VRM) 3-day short course, NTC 8400-04, will be held from June 22 – 24, 2010 at the Hyatt Place Hotel near the Reno Tahoe Airport, 1790 E. Plumb Lane, Reno, NV 89502. The course will be located in Meeting Room A from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each day. Employees interested in attending this course should register at https://www.doi.gov/doilearn by the close of business on June 16, 2010. Class size is limited to 30 students.
This course covers VRM policy, land use planning procedures and field implementation to improve the visual quality of projects. This VRM short course will focus on renewable energy projects including a field trip to a proposed wind energy project.

The target audience for this course is those personnel that work with projects subject to VRM policy, including but not limited to Field managers, natural resource specialists, recreation planners, realty specialists, landscape architects, range conservationists, etc. Contractors who are actively planning projects may also be invited with approval by the District/Field Office Manager where the proposed action may occur. Registered students should plan to attend all 3 days of class.
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

-Implement BLM policy and law related to VRM emphasizing the importance for consistent Bureau-wide VRM implementation.
-Implement how policy is reflected in land use plans
-Explain the process for inventorying a landscape
-Describe how to evaluate and design the visual resource aspects of a project

A block of rooms has been set aside for workshop participants at the Hyatt Place Reno Tahoe Airport Plaza for Monday, June 21 through Thursday, June 24. Lodging is $102 per night.
