Subject: Request for Applications to Host a Teacher through the Bureau of Land Management’s “Teachers on the Public Lands” Program
DD: 01/21/2022
The National Conservation Lands and Community Partnerships Directorate (HQ400) is pleased to announce the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) continuation of the “Teachers on the Public Lands” (TPL) initiative in Fiscal Year (FY) 2022.
The BLM Division of Education, Cultural and Paleontological Resources (HQ420), will support the placement of seven classroom teachers as interns at selected BLM offices during the summer of 2022. Teachers will receive a professional development stipend and earn university credit through the BLM’s cooperative agreement with the University of Colorado, Denver, upon completion of a mutually beneficial project supporting local visitor outreach, recreation, and community engagement goals. In addition, teachers will have the opportunity to learn about public lands and resources, experience the day-to-day operations of the BLM and work with the public with professional BLM staff. Teachers will assist with visitor outreach and programs targeting youth and families and contribute to the development of special events and programs to promote outdoor recreation and conservation stewardship of public lands.
BLM offices interested in hosting a teacher through the TPL program need to complete and return the attached application by January 21, 2022. Submit applications via e-mail to Corrine (Cory) Roberts, cjroberts@blm.gov, Education Specialist, HQ420. For additional information, contact Cory by email or at (208) 384-3485. Selections will be made, and applicants notified, by January 28, 2022.
