Subject: Rangeland and Sagebrush-Steppe Stewardship Award Nominations
DD: 06/15/2021 and 07/01/2021
Program Area: Rangeland Management.
Purpose: This is a request for nominations for the 2021 Rangeland and Sagebrush-Steppe Stewardship Awards. Each category of “Rangeland Stewardship” and “Sagebrush-Steppe Stewardship” will be presented to one (1) grazing permittee/lessee AND one (1) collaborative team, for a total of four awards.
A description of each award and selection criteria can be found in Attachment 1 (2021 Nomination Process for the Rangeland and Sagebrush-Steppe Stewardship Awards).
All nominations should include:
- The condition of public rangelands that would demonstrate healthy ecosystems.
- The use of beneficial management practices to restore, protect, or enhance rangeland resources.
- Efforts to collaborate and cooperate with other users of public lands.
- Demonstrated communication throughout the project.
Additional criteria specific to sagebrush-steppe stewardship nominations are described in Attachment 1. If a nomination has been submitted in the past but was not selected, please consider a new nomination if criteria are still met.
The 2021 Rangeland and Sagebrush-Steppe Stewardship Awards will be presented at the Public Lands Council’s fall meeting, September 8-11, 2021 in Seaside, Oregon.
Field Managers are encouraged to submit nominations that meet criteria in one or more award categories to their respective State Office by June 15, 2021. State Offices are encouraged to submit nominations to Jessica Phillips (jmphillips@blm.gov) in the Division of Forest, Range, and Vegetation Resources (HQ-220) by July 1, 2021. Each nomination must clearly state the award for which the nomination is submitted.
