We are pleased to announce the winners of the BLM’s 2018 Making a Difference National Volunteer Awards for outstanding volunteer service. The 2018 awardees and their BLM nominating offices are:
• Pat & Phyllis Malato, Outstanding Achievement, Upper Snake Field Office (ID)
• Susan Murphy, Outstanding Achievement, Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (NV)
• Miranda & Madison Dickinson, Outstanding Youth, National Historic Trails Interpretive Center (WY)
• Great Escape Mustang Sanctuary, Group Excellence, Little Snake Field Office (CO)
• David & Jane Styer, Lifetime Achievement, Fort Ord National Monument (CA)
• Sandra & Geoff Freethey, Lifetime Achievement, Moab Field Office (UT)
• Laura Olais, Employee Winner, Gila District Office (AZ)
A national panel of BLM specialists and partner organization representatives selected the winners for their exceptional contributions to conservation and management of public lands. We thank our colleagues from all the offices that submitted nominations. As in past years, there were many candidates deserving of recognition. For your information, we have attached summaries of our winners’ accomplishments.
This year’s winners will be honored during a special awards ceremony to be held live via video teleconference on Wednesday May 23, 2018, beginning at 1:00 p.m. EDT. This event will be livestreamed so that all BLM employees can watch it in real time.
