Subject: Recognizing Accomplishments of Interpretive Associations and Friends Groups: Nominations for the 2018 Bureau of Land Management “Public Lands Partnership Excellence” Award
DD: 01/12/2018
This Information Bulletin invites each BLM State Office to nominate one outstanding interpretive association (IA) or friends group for the 2018 Bureau of Land Management (BLM) “Public Lands Partnership Excellence” Award. Presentation of the award will take place in conjunction with the Public Lands Alliance (PLA) Annual Convention, held February 25-March 1, 2018, in Palm Springs, California. The Washington Office Division of Education, Interpretation, and Partnerships will fund travel for one representative of the winning IA or friends group. Information on PLA and the convention can be found at www.publiclandsalliance.org.
The Public Lands Partnership Excellence Award recognizes an IA or friends group that has a formal assistance agreement with the BLM and has demonstrated exceptional support for the BLM’s interpretive, educational, and/or public outreach programs. Such support may have included financial assistance, contributions to the production of outstanding interpretive or educational materials, development or presentation of interpretive programs, help with obtaining grants, and other efforts to assist the BLM in accomplishing its interpretive and educational goals. Previous award recipients have included the Colorado Canyons Association (Colorado), Friends of Agua Fria National Monument (Arizona), Loxahatchee River Historical Society (Florida), the Public Lands Interpretive Association (nationwide), and the San Juan Mountains Association (Colorado).
Each State may nominate one IA or friends group for the award following the instructions included in the attached nomination criteria. Please submit your nomination package (narrative, four copies of any backup materials, and a CD with electronic files) by second-day Federal Express to the address below, or by email to bcandela@blm.gov.
