Subject: Solicitation of Nominations for Natural Resource Conservation Awards DD: 01/05/2018 and 01/12/2018
Each year, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Director and the US Forest Service (FS) Chief recognizes outstanding individuals, groups, and partnership achievements by natural resource professionals and partner organizations. Through these awards, the BLM Director recognizes the hard work and professional dedication of BLM employees and partner individuals and organizations. All BLM state directors, field managers, and employees are encouraged to submit nominations for one or more awards for individuals or groups who exemplify the performance or contributions described in Attachments 1, and 2 herein.
The Division of Fish and Wildlife Conservation (WO-230) is soliciting nominations for the following awards:
BLM/Wildlife Conservation Partner Awards (DD: 01/05/2018)
• Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Elk Conservation Award
• National Wild Turkey Federation Making Tracks Award
• Mule Deer Foundation Mule Deer/Black-Tailed Deer Conservation Award
BLM/Linda Seibert Career Achievement Award (DD: 01/12/2018)
BLM/Jim Yoakum Emerging Professional Award (DD: 01/12/2018)
BLM/USFS Joint Natural Resource Conservation Awards (DD: 01/12/2018)
• Conservation Project Award
• Conservation Partner Award
Nomination Process and Criteria
The detailed descriptions for each award, eligibility requirements, selection criteria and nomination process can be found in Attachments 1 and 2.
In addition to the basic criteria outlined in the attachments, all offices should pay special attention to how nominees have attained success through principles of the administration priority:
Making America Great Through Shared Conservation Stewardship
And with special attention to actions that do the following:
1) Work with partners to develop and implement priority habitat monitoring and improvement projects, 2) enhance opportunities for volunteer service and youth engagement on public lands, and 3) emphasize BLM’s multiple-use mandate through strategic communication efforts and educational outreach.
