Subject:           “Wildlife & Habitat” Inaugural BLM Junior Ranger Activity Booklet; Notice of Availability

We are pleased to announce the availability of the BLM’s inaugural Junior Ranger activity booklet, “Wildlife & Habitat,” an electronic copy of which is attached.  This publication carries on the legacy of the BLM’s previously published thematic Junior Explorer activity books, but offers a fresh new design under the new BLM “Junior Ranger” program umbrella.  As with the BLM’s previous thematic activity booklets, “Wildlife & Habitat” is a great tool to help educate younger audiences about public lands and resources in a fun and engaging way.  A companion Classroom Investigations Teaching Guide for secondary school teachers is also available. Further guidance on the new Junior Ranger program will be issued via Instruction Memorandum in the near future.

Please offer copies of Junior Ranger “Wildlife & Habitat” at visitor centers, outdoor youth events, BLM public rooms, and other appropriate venues.  Once the booklets are printed (early summer), you are encouraged to coordinate with your office Forms Manager to order copies (up to 100 per order) free of charge from BLM Printed Materials Distribution Services at the National Operations Center.  The PMDS item number is EE2038D.

The booklet will also be downloadable from the internal BLM Environmental Education Junior Ranger webpage, from the external BLM Learning Landscapes Junior Ranger webpage, and on the BLM Junior Ranger Pinterest board.

For further information, please contact Derrick Baldwin, BLM Education Specialist, at dbaldwin@blm.gov or (970) 882-6805.
