Subject: The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) National Lead for Interpretation DD: 08/31/2010
On behalf of the Division of Education, Interpretation, and Partnerships, I would like to introduce Brianna Candelaria, the BLMs new National Lead for Interpretation.
Brianna joins the Washington Office from Utahs Dinosaur National Monument, where she was the Assistant Chief of Interpretation. Her prior experience also includes interpretive positions at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, several national parks, the National Park Service Harpers Ferry Interpretive Design Center, and the BLMs National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.
In the coming months, Brianna will contact both State and Field Office interpretive staff to discuss program needs and suggested enhancements.
This preliminary information will be used to begin to build a strategic plan for interpretation that addresses:
-- Communication with State and Field Office staffs
-- Helping train staff
-- New technologies for delivery of interpretive materials and programs
-- Approaches for making interpretation a dynamic, integral part of BLM visitor services
-- Partnerships
First steps will include updating the existing list of BLM State interpretive leads and building an accurate, accessible, database. Toward that end, I would appreciate your responding to this message with the name of the person who is the primary contact for the interpretive program in your state. Please ask that person to contact Brianna by August 31st, so she may provide him/her with the information to access the database.
If you or your staff have any questions, Brianna's contact information is as follows: Brianna Candelaria Email: Brianna_M_Candelaria@blm.gov Phone: 202-912-7583 Fax: 202-912-7192 Thank you for your assistance. Brianna and I look forward to working with your interpretive staff.
