Information Bulletin No. 2010-069

To: All Field Officials
Attn: Recreation Planners

From: Chief, Division of Recreation and Visitor Services

Subject: Fee-free Days for the 2010 Summer Season

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), in conjunction with other agencies within the Department of the Interior, will waive recreation-related fees for visitors on June 5- 6, August 14-15, September 25 (National Public Lands Day), and November 11 (Veterans Day), 2010, on many of the BLM's public lands, including areas within the National Landscape Conservation System (NLCS), which is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

The fee-free requirement only applies to standard amenity fees, though other fees may be waived if the field office manager deems it appropriate. For data collection and accountability purposes, a zero-value receipt equivalent to a one-day pass may be issued to those visitors whose fee is waived. We will also distribute "Fee-free coupons" to volunteers who participate in the BLM's September 25, 2010, National Public Lands Day observance; further guidance will be issued at a later date.

For more information on the NLCS 10th anniversary, please see the online calendar of events and interactive map of the BLM's national conservation lands. For more information about this summer's fee-free days, please visit the BLM Fee-Free Days website.
