The location and hotel arrangements for the meeting will be finalized shortly. (Phoenix, Arizona and Denver, Colorado are the tentative locations.)Prior to the Program Meeting, a State WH&B Lead/Washington Office Budget/Planning Meeting will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 26, 2010. (State Leads should plan to travel on Sunday, April 25, 2010.)The All Hands WH&B Program Meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, and conclude about 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2010. (Participants should plan to travel home on Friday, April 30, 2010.) All employees involved in WH&B Program administration are encouraged to attend this meeting. Attendance should include, but is not limited to State Directors and/or Associates, Deputy State Directors, District/Field Office Managers, State/District or Field Office Public Affairs staff, State WH&B Leads, WH&B Program Specialists, Facility Managers, Facility Administrative Staff, Wranglers, etc.The primary purpose of the All Hands Meeting is to work toward the development of an implementation strategy for Secretary of the Interior Salazar’s WH&B Program Initiative. This initiative focuses on three primary goals: implementing Preserves and Partnerships to humanely care for excess wild horses and burros removed from the range; identification and management of Treasured Herds; and long-term management of WH&B on the Range. Also planned are Animal Care Training, a Facility Manager’s meeting, and information and updates on a number of Wild Horse and Burro Program “Hot Topics”. Public Affairs staff will be asked to assist WH&B Program staff to address a number of current issues relative to media, transparency, and misinformation. Each State is asked to submit their nominations for the 2010 All Hands Meeting to Ramona Delorme not later than February 26, 2010 (rdelorme@blm.gov). Please use Attachment 2 when submitting nominations (the approval of the employee’s immediate supervisor is required). Information about room reservations or other travel arrangements will be available after January 1, 2010.
