Subject: Recognizing Accomplishments of Interpretive Associations and Friends Groups: Nominations for the 2010 Bureau of Land Management Public Lands Partnership Excellence Award DD: 01/08/2010
This Information Bulletin invites each Bureau of Land Management (BLM) State Office to nominate one outstanding interpretive association (IA) or friends group for the 2010 BLM Public Lands Partnership Excellence Award. The award will be presented by the Director or his representative in conjunction with the Association of Partners for Public Lands (APPL) Annual Convention, held February 7-10, 2010, in San Diego, California. Travel for one representative of the winning IA or friends group will be funded by the Washington Office. Information on APPL and the convention can be found at http://www.appl.org.
The Public Lands Partnership Excellence Award recognizes an IA or friends group that has a formal assistance agreement with the BLM and has demonstrated exceptional support for the BLM's interpretive, environmental education, and/or public outreach programs. Such support may have included financial assistance, contributions to the production of outstanding interpretive or educational materials, development or presentation of interpretive programs, help with obtaining grants, and other efforts to assist the BLM in accomplishing its interpretive or educational goals. Previous award recipients have included the Public Lands Interpretive Association (nationwide), the San Juan Mountains Association (Colorado), the Glen Canyon Natural History Association (Arizona), and the Empire Ranch Foundation (Arizona). Each State may nominate one IA or friends group for the award following the instructions included with the attached nomination criteria. Please submit your nomination package (narrative, four copies of any backup materials, and a CD with electronic files) by Federal Express to:
