Subject: National Fishing and Boating Week 2007 DD: 07/31/2007
The 2007 National Fishing and Boating Week (NFBW) celebration will be observed Saturday, June 2 through Sunday, June 10, 2007. This annual, nationwide celebration provides an opportunity for communities, the public and private partners to sponsor events that promote boating and fishing participation and inform the public about the importance of aquatic stewardship. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) supports this effort, and I encourage all State and Field Offices to host or participate in the NFBW events. Please send photos and descriptions of your NFBW events (partner names, number of participants, etc.) by July 31, 2007, to Richard Bulavinetz, Division of Fish, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (WO-230), to be included in the 2007 National Fishing and Boating Week Report.
In 2006, the BLM sponsored more than thirty-one NFBW events, in which a total of over 6,300 people participated. Attached is a copy of the NFBW 2006 Report, which can also be viewed at: http://www.blm.gov/wo/st/en/prog/Recreation/special_events.html. Under "National Fishing and Boating Week" click on "select this link" to get the report.
If you have any questions regarding the NFBW, please contact Richard Bulavinetz, Fisheries Biologist at (202) 452-0325 or Hal Hallett, BLM Senior Outdoor Recreation Specialist at (202) 452-7794. The NFBW website also provides a wealth of information: http://www.nationalfishingandboatingweek.org.
