Subject: Field Rotations for Presidential Management Fellows

Division of Planning and Science Policy and Josh Hanson would like to offer their thanks to the State and Field Offices who responded to IB2007-048, Rotations for Presidential Management Fellows (PMF). The response from the field was overwhelming with more than 20 offices generously offering their sites as potential rotations for Josh. We were thrilled at the variety of opportunities for professional development provided by the Field and State Offices.

We are pleased to announce that Josh Hanson will be working in the Utah State Office this summer. He will be helping Field Offices with preparation of controversial draft Resource Management Plans/Environmental Impact Statements and supplemental draft Resource Management Plans/Environmental Impact Statements that incorporate further analyses of wilderness characteristics to ensure compliance with BLM’s land use planning guidance and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Josh will also serve as a member of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument management plan evaluation team and lead the preparation of the evaluation report. Additionally, Josh will work closely with the Solicitors to address comments and concerns on pertinent documents as well as current and future litigation issues. He will also have the opportunity to attend monthly Resource Development Coordinating Committee meetings to coordinate BLM land use planning and NEPA issues with state government. This assignment will require travel all over the State of Utah which will give Josh the exposure to several BLM Field Offices.

The PMF program has proven its value to the BLM, and offices are encouraged to consider new PMFs for vacant positions when opportunities arise.
