Information Bulletin No. CA-2010-017
To: All CA BLM Employees
From: Acting State Director
Subject: Establishment of Advisory Safety and Health Committee (ASH)
This Information Bulletin introduces the CA BLM Advisory Safety and Health Committee (ASH). ASH is a state level committee which provides a forum for all employees to bring forward concerns about safety and health in or related to the workplace.
The Master Labor Agreement between CA BLM and the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE) Local Lodge 2152 (Union) (Article 21, Sec. 21.2) provides the foundation and guidance for ASH. Management chairs the committee and membership consists of two Union and two Management employees. The current members of the committee are:
- Karen Barnette, Management, Chair
- Elaine Downing, Union
- Nancy Haug, Management
- Timothy Moore, Union
The committee meets quarterly to consider issues and make recommendations for resolving those issues. All employees have access to the CA ASH SharePoint Site where meeting minutes and other items of interest will be posted. The link to this site is http://teamspace/ca/ASHpub/Forms/AllItems.aspx.
I encourage employees to bring appropriate issues, along with suggestions for addressing those issues, to the attention of any ASH member.
Questions regarding this IB can be directed to Karen Barnette at 916-978-4501 or via email.
