Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

The Canyon Country District is announcing the 2026 Artist in Residence program application period, from March 31 to June 1, 2026. This year, the residency will take place in the Moab Field Office.

Rock crawl trails designated; Vegetation and fuel treatments authorized in Uintah County

The BLM has designated four rock-crawling trails for motorized use and authorized over 6,700 acres of vegetation treatments in the Powder Springs area to reduce hazardous fuels and improve wildlife habitat.

BLM asks climbers to avoid Long Canyon routes to protect bighorn sheep

The Bureau of Land Management asks climbers to voluntarily avoid rock climbing in Long Canyon from April 1 through June 15 to help protect desert bighorn sheep during a critical time in their reproductive cycle.

The BLM Vernal Field Office has approved drilling permits for the Andre 1-18-3-2 and Diehard oil well projects, supporting federal and Indian Trust mineral production on private lands in Duchesne County.
