Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

BLM seeks input on proposed sale of public lands interest in Jean to the State of Nevada

BLM seeks public comments on a realty action for 480 acres patented to the State of Nevada in 1979 for the Jean Prison, to allow the State to use the land for economic development. Comment period ends April 27, 2026.

BLM to hold public hearing on proposed metallurgical coal leasing in West Virginia 

The BLM will host a public hearing on proposed underground mining for metallurgical coal in West Virginia. If approved, the plan would make about 4.55 million tons of metallurgical coal available for mining.

Shaded fuel break authorized on Cedar Mesa; Oil and gas projects approved in Duchesne and Uintah Counties

The BLM has authorized a shaded fuel break in Bears Ears National Monument, seven oil wells for the Klondike project in Duchesne County, and a new gas well for the Bronto project in Uintah County.

The BLM has authorized oil development for the Skoufos South project in Duchesne County and approved a 10-year special recreation permit for the Utah Gravel Series mountain bike race in Uintah County.
