Vernal, Utah— The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah Vernal Field Office and Ashley National Forest are saddened at the death of a respected and valued employee. Garrett R. Barnett was killed in a traffic accident while on duty this past Saturday morning. Garrett, age 23, was a dedicated Park Ranger who loved fishing and kayaking.
Garrett worked for the Bureau of Land Management in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service to provide for the safety and protection of the public who enjoy the Green River and Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. This was his first summer working and living with fellow rangers from the Ashley National Forest.
Garrett will be greatly missed by co-workers in both agencies. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
