Vandalism on Winnemucca Mountain is under investigation 2024
WINNEMUCCA, Nev. – Vandalism to Winnemucca Mountain occurred approximately May 12, 2024, and is currently under investigation.
“Volunteers have offered to help with the clean-up and restore the viewshed of our community. But until the investigation is complete, we are unable to remove/disturb the graffiti until the investigation has concluded,” said Humboldt River Field Office Manager, John Mitchell.
The Bureau of Land Management is planning to rectify the damage in the most expedient, environmentally friendly way possible that will permanently remove all evidence of the vandalism. The planning effort must consider the current state of the area and what environmental affects, if any, the mitigation will have on future seasons and years.
