Thompson Divide Withdrawal
This Public Land Order withdraws 221,898.23 acres, including approximately 197,744.66 acres of National Forest System lands, approximately 15,464.99 acres of BLM-managed public lands, and approximately 8,688.58 acres of reserved Federal mineral interest, from all forms of entry, appropriation, and disposal under the public land laws; location and entry under the mining laws; and operation of the mineral leasing, mineral materials, and geothermal leasing laws, subject to valid existing rights, for a period of 20 years.
The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
