Event Description

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Northern New Mexico Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will conduct a meeting Jan. 16 and 17, 2025. The BLM will host a field trip on Jan. 16 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an in-person meeting, with virtual option, Jan. 17 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mountain Time.

The BLM will host a field trip to Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument. Members of the public who wish to participate in the field tour must register at least two weeks in advance with Jamie Garcia at jagarcia@blm.gov, as space is limited. Public attendees must provide their own transportation and meals.

The meeting on Jan. 17 will take place at the BLM Rio Puerco Field Office, 100 Sun Ave. Suite 330, Albuquerque, NM 87109. Meeting agenda items include a discussion and vote for a proposed Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument fee increase, an overview of the Rio Puerco Field Office Resource Management Plan, and updates from the BLM Rio Puerco, Taos and Farmington field offices. The final agenda will be posted online two week in advance of the meeting at: https://www.blm.gov/get-involved/resource-advisory-council/near-you/new-mexico/northern-rac.

The public is invited to attend and provide comments at the meeting. Both an in-person and virtual participation option are available. To register to attend the meeting virtually, please go to: https://blm.zoomgov.com/webinar/register/WN_L11-2VgAR-Sw2FH940LboA. Beginning at 2 p.m. MDT on Jan. 17, 2025, there will be a 30-minute public comment period for interested members of the public who wish to address the Northern New Mexico RAC. Depending on the number of people wishing to comment, time for individual oral comments may be limited.

RACs are critical in serving local communities by assisting BLM with public land management decisions. The 12-member Northern New Mexico RAC provides advice and recommendations to the BLM on resource and land management issues within the BLM Rio Puerco, Taos and Farmington field offices. RAC members are citizens who represent a variety of public land interests.

For more information about the upcoming RAC meeting and/or to request reasonable accommodations, contact BLM Northern New Mexico Resource Advisory Council Coordinator Jamie Garcia at (505) 761-8787 or jagarcia@blm.gov
