LAS VEGAS – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposed withdrawal of approximately 1,044 acres of public lands in Clark County from location and entry under United States mining laws, and from leasing under the mineral and geothermal leasing laws, for the next 20 years, subject to valid existing rights. The lands would still be available under the mineral materials disposal laws.

This proposed withdrawal aims to establish a utility and transportation corridor to facilitate the orderly development of future infrastructure and public services while preventing conflicting land uses.

A Notice of Withdrawal Application will publish in tomorrow’s Federal Register to set aside the lands from appropriation for two years and initiate a 90-day public comment period. Written comments may be emailed to blm_nv_lvfo_landtenureteam@blm.gov (preferred), or delivered to BLM Las Vegas Field Office, Attn:  Proposed Sloan Utility and Transportation Corridor Withdrawal, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130. The comment period will close April 15, 2025.

If, based on the public comments received, the BLM determines that a public meeting is warranted, notification will be given of the meeting’s date, time, and location in local newspapers and on the BLM Nevada website at least 30 days before the scheduled meeting.
