BLM reopens Quartzville Back Country Byway
Salem, Ore. — The Bureau of Land Management has reopened the Quartzville Back Country Byway after a temporary closure due to a rockslide in late December 2024. BLM employees and contractors cleared the rockslide and placed barriers at the base of the previously disturbed slope. The BLM advises continued caution while driving throughout the Cascade Range, particularly in the winter months.
“Thanks to a coordinated effort between hardworking contractors, Linn County representatives, and BLM employees, we are pleased to reopen the byway to the public,” said Dennis Teitzel, the BLM’s Northwest Oregon District Manager. “Please remain alert and watch for loose rocks and debris while driving and recreating.”
