BLM proposes sale of public land parcels in Nevada
ELY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposal to sell seven parcels of public land, totaling 571 acres, in Lincoln and White Pine counties. The proposed sales comply with the Lincoln County Conservation, Recreation, and Development Act of 2004 and White Pine County Conservation, Recreation, and Development Act of 2006 (the Acts), both of which were enacted to establish wilderness areas and fund conservation projects in those counties through the sale of public lands.
“We look forward to the input from the community on this proposed land sale that will help Lincoln and White Pine counties develop while generating revenue for conservation, education, and county services,” said BLM Ely District Manager Robbie McAboy.
In accordance with the Acts, 85 percent of the funds generated by the sales will support protection of archaeological and natural resources, recreation and wilderness planning, and other opportunities in Lincoln and White Pine counties. Five percent of the revenue will go to the State of Nevada for education and ten percent is shared between the respective counties.
A Notice of Realty Action will publish in tomorrow’s Federal Register to begin a 45-day public comment period expected to close August 26, 2024. Written comments may be emailed to m1peters@blm.gov (preferred) or delivered to the BLM Ely District Office, Attn: Ely District Manager, 702 N. Industrial Way, Ely, NV 89301.
The BLM proposes to offer the parcels by modified competitive sale at no less than each parcel’s fair market value on September 12, 2024, at 8 a.m. Pacific Time via the EnergyNet website. Fair market values will be posted on EnergyNet no later than 30 days prior to the sale. Parcels may be viewed on EnergyNet approximately 10 business days after the Federal Register notice publishes.
