HAMILTON, Mont. — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Montana/Dakotas invites the public to participate in the Bitterroot Valley Wild Horse & Burro Adoption Event, June 28-29, 2025, at the Matt Bischof Training Facility in Hamilton, Montana.
This event will offer 40+ wild horses and burros, including yearlings, 4-5-year-old mares and geldings.
Event Schedule:

June 27 – Viewing and application submission: 4 - 7 p.m.

June 28 – Mustang Matt’s “Next Steps” Clinic: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

June 28 – First Come/First Serve Adoption Event: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

June 29 – First Come/First Serve Adoption Event: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
“Adopting a wild horse or burro is more than just taking home an animal—it’s about forging an unbreakable bond through patience, training, and trust,” said Patrick Merrill, BLM Montana/Dakotas Wild Horse & Burro Coordinator. “Many adopters say it’s one of the most rewarding experiences of their lives.”
