The BLM uses National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) guidelines to analyze land-use applications. with scientifically based studies and data, as well as traditional and ecological knowledge. The complexity of the analysis is based on the potential impact to things like air quality, environmental justice, visual character, noise, lands & realty, water resources, vegetation, soil, cultural resources, fish, and wildlife.
