Cache Mountain Cabin | Alaska
Built in 1991, the 12 ft x 16 ft Cache Mountain Cabin sits on a terrace above O’Brien Creek approximately three miles above the creek’s confluence with Beaver Creek Wild and Scenic River. The cabin sleeps up to six people.
Cabins are equipped with bunk beds, a table and benches, cook stove, fire extinguisher, saw, ax, broom, wood stove and outhouse.
Renters need to bring propane for the cook stoves. Cabin users should be prepared to cut firewood or bring some with them. Other recommended items to bring include maps and compass, lanterns, matches, sleeping bag and pad, extra food items and water, and warm clothing.
Cache Mountain Cabin is primarily a winter use cabin. It is accessible in the summer via non-motorized use only but can be a difficult trek due to permafrost and tussock type terrain.

From milepost 28 on the Elliott Highway, take the Wickersham Creek Trail to the Trail Creek Trail. Follow the Trail Creek Trail to the Cache Mountain Cabin (approximately 39 miles). Another access point is at milepost 42 of the Steese Highway. Take the McKay Creek Trail approximately 17 miles, then turn right onto the Trail Creek Trail for another 2.5 miles to the cabin.
