Mal Coombs Park-Shelter Cove

Mal Coombs Park is located on the southwest side of the small town of Shelter Cove. There are interpretive panels overlooking a small, rocky, beach hidden away below the park. Amenities include a parking lot, picnic tables, a native plant garden, BBQ pit and public restrooms. At low tide, the abundant marine life is exposed in tide pools below the beach. California Sea Lions and Harbor Seals hang out on the rocks nearby. Please respect wildlife and observe from 100 feet away or further. Mal Coombs Park is also the home to the restored Cape Mendocino Lighthouse that was relocated in 1998.

NO CAMPING. Leashed dogs welcome.

STAY OUT OF THE OCEAN and always check current ocean conditions before walking on the beach.
